Biographical Data Genni Gunn is a novelist, poet, and translator. She was born in Trieste, Italy. Working languages are English and Italian. She holds an M.F.A. from the University of British Columbia with a specialization in creative writing. Her original works include two novels, Tracing Iris (Raincoast, 2001) and Thrice Upon a Time (Quarry Press, 1990) finalist for Best First Novel in the Commonwealth Prize, Canada/Caribean; two short story collections, Hungers (Raincoast, 2002) and On the Road (Oberon Press, 1991); and a prose/poetry collection, Mating In Captivity (Quarry Press, 1993), finalist for the Gerald Lampert Award. She has published two English translations of poetry collections by Dacia Maraini, Devour Me Too (Guernica Editions, 1987), finalist for the John Glassco Translation Prize, and Travelling in the Gait of a Fox (Quarry Press, 1993) finalist for the Premio Internazionale Diego Valeri. She has written an original libretto, Alternate Visions, commissioned by Vancouver Opera, with music by composer John Oliver, scheduled for production by Chants Libres in March 2004. She is at work on a new novel.
