Biographical Data

Ferdinanda Van Gennip was born in the Netherlands and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario. Following a high school teaching career, she spent a year at the Institut Supérieur de Traducteurs et Interprètes in Brussels, Belgium on a Government of Canada bursary, later obtaining a degree in French Translation and French Canadian Studies from Queen's University at Kingston. She worked as a translator with a major Canadian bank for almost a decade and achieved ATIO certification before pursuing studies at the Toronto School of Theology, where she developed a special interest in ecology and spirituality and graduated with a Master of Divinity. Ferdinanda has been freelancing since 1994, translating mainly books on theology, spirituality and psychology. She has more recently begun translating fiction.
