Biographical Data Susanne de Lotbinière-Harwood is a Montreal-born writer and translator who works into both English and into French, her mother tongue. Her fields of practice are women's writing and art, and screen versioning. She teaches translation at Concordia University, and ESL and lit at Collège Ahuntsic. She has translated many Quebec and English-Canadian feminist writers. Her work has appeared in anthologies and literary reviews in the U.S. and Canada, including Trivia, Tessera, Spirale, Fireweed, Circuit, NBJ, Harbour, Semiotext (e), etc. She won the 1981 John Glassco Translation Award for Neons in the Night and the Félix-Antoine Savard Translation Award for Mauve Desert in 1991. She has translated numerous art texts (catalogues, monographs, etc.) by/about some of Canada's top women artists. Her 1991 dual-language book Re-belle et infidèle: la traduction comme pratique de ré-écriture au féminin/The Body Bilingual: translation as a re-writing in the feminine was published by Les Éditions du Remue-ménage (Montreal)/Women's Press (Toronto).
