This Sunday, May 5, four of our members, Katia Grubisic, Paul Gagné, Phyllis Aronoff, and Howard Scott, will be taking part in a round-table discussion at the 21st edition of the Blue Metropolis Festival. The panel, titled “The Power of Literature,” will seek to explore the transformative and galvanizing capacities of the written word. The 75 minute talk will take place in Hôtel 10’s Salle St-Laurent and will begin at 2pm.

Can literature change the world? Six Canadian writers – poets, novelists and translators – chosen among the 2018 Governor General’s Award winners, answer this question, from both a personal and a literary perspective. This event has been organized jointly with the Canada Council for the Arts to celebrate the finalists and winners of the 2018 Governor General’s Literary Awards.

The Blue Metropolis Foundation, founded in 1997 by Linda Leith, has been hosting the Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival since 1999. Since its inception, the non-profit organization has made great strides in building a bridge between the language divide, and, furthermore, has brought together different cultures from around the world through the pleasures of reading and writing.
