The Literary Translators’ Association of Canada has partnered with the Frye Festival for three upcoming events in three Atlantic Canada cities:
Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 6:30 PM to 8 PM at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre, 140, Botsford road, room 12, Moncton, New Brunswick. The price of entry is $10.
In 2014, poet Rose Després translated Phil Hall’s Killdeer to French. Poets Georgette Leblanc and Adalber Salas Hernández are currently translating Sue Goyette’s Ocean, to French and Spanish respectively.
Come listen to the texts in three languages and discover how translators recreate the bonds between form and content, so specific to poetry.
The event will hosted by our very own Sonya Malaborza.
This roundtable discussion is part of Frye on Tour, presented in collaboration with LTAC, the City of Fredericton, New Brunswick, the Bibliothèque publique de Fredericton Public Library and the Halifax Central Library.

Venezuelan poet, essayist and translator Adalber Salas Hernández joins Fredericton Poet Laureate Jenna Lyn Albert and guests Rebecca Salazar and Neyda Long in the library’s Chickadee Hall for an afternoon of poetry readings and discussions in Spanish, French and English.
Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.
Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 3 PM to 4:30 PM, Halifax Central Library, BMO Community Room, 5440 Spring Garden Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Venezuelan poet, essayist and translator Adalber Salas Hernández will read from some of his most recent writing and will share a sneak peek of a very special Halifax-based project he’s been working on recently: Sue Goyette’s Ocean, which he is currently translating into Spanish.
This event will also be hosted by the indefatigable Sonya Malaborza.
