Frequently Asked Questions
Who can be a member of the LTAC?
Applicants for membership must have published a translation of a least one book or equivalent work, not at their own expense, or have executed comparable translations in media other than book publication. Applicants for membership must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents in Canada as described in the Immigration Act.
You can also become a student member or associate member. Students must be studying translation or literature. The only requirement for associate membership is an interest in literary translation and literary translators. Student and associate members have no voting rights.
How do I become a member of the LTAC?
Fill out a membership application form, which is available by mail. Attach a résumé and list of translations so we can determine your eligibility.
A résumé is also highly appreciated for student and associate members.
Submit the application with a cheque for $130 for your first year's dues ($25 for student member or $60 for an associate member). The cheque will only be cashed when you are accepted as a member of the LTAC.
