Conferences and Readings: The Writer in the Library

For the 25th anniversary of the Public Lending Right (PLR) programme, Réjean Savard, librarian and professor at the Université de Montréal will discuss the evolution of libraries and the practice of reading in Québec. He will be followed on the stage by writer Monique LaRue, who will provide a portrait of the evolution of literature in Québec and its impact on our lives. These lectures will be interspersed with group, duo and solo readings, in both French and English, by writers Louise Desjardins and Katia Grubisic as well as by author and musician Guy Marchamps, who will read excerpts from works by Alice Munro, Ross Leckie, Jacques Poulin or Michel Tremblay, among others, which are set in libraries.

Each year, the Public Lending Right Commission distributes royalties to Canadian authors whose books are found in Canadian public libraries.
