Dear friends from BILTC 2009/Chers amis/Queridos amigos,
My 3-year term as BILTC director officially ends today, and my successors - co-directors and Banff alumni Hugh Hazelton and Katherine Silver - are poised to take my place. I know they will do a fantastic job for BILTC, and I hope to be able to continue lending a helping hand for as long as my help is needed, just as Linda Gaboriau did with me. The whole BILTC adventure has been absolutely incredible, leaving me with lasting memories of the people, the literature and the languages I had the privilege of encountering during my 9 years spent working and volunteering with the program. The adventure still continues with readings from the BILTC anthology Beyond Words scheduled for this fall in Edmonton and Montreal (with Hugh and Katherine), and others still with Katherine in attendance in Mexico City and Philadelphia. I would like to thank all the participants for your passion and your friendship and encourage you to apply for BILTC again since the program can only benefit from more of the worthy projects you have brought to us in the past. Above all, I would like to express the hope that we will continue sharing our passion and enthusiasm for translation, literature and the miracle of life itself (as I embark on the newest adventure of grandmotherhood!) for years to come.
Love/Con cariño/Amitiés,
Susan
