Mouth to Mouth

Once again
I'm walking on water
though it's all happening on a train
where it's hot
I know if one foot touches the floor
the river will open up
all will fly away
your fingers on my neck will end up strangling me
your eyes won't see me anymore
Despite these predictions
we're still on the train
as there's nothing to do but
imagine ourselves prisoners
forever
Take me so we can pretend
our feet no longer touch the ground
take me on the ground
take me on the bridge
to drift
You don't know the current's strength
you know nothing of my scream
my breathing
you've got to lift your head
out of the water each time
in order to come right to me
Let's imagine for a moment
what would have become of us
had you agreed
to hold your breath
you'd have known the headiness of depths and tides
little scales would have appeared
around your mouth
and algae
lined your veins
But you had to go and open the doors of the train
with all your might
we've since left reality
need I remind you of that today
