Laurence Marie
Mouth to mouth
Once again
I walk on water
even though all this happens on a train
where it is hot
I know that if I put my foot on the floor
the river will open up
everything will fly off
your fingers around my neck will end up strangling me
your eyes will no longer see me
Despite these prophecies
we stay on the train
for there is nothing else to do
but imagine ourselves to be captives
for ever
Take me, so we can pretend
our feet are not touching the ground
take me on the ground
take me on the bridge
while drifting
You don't know the power of the current
you know nothing about my cry
my breathing
each time you need
to bring your head out of the water
to come to me
Let's imagine for a moment
what we might have become
had you agreed
to hold your breath back
you would have known the ecstasy of depths and tides
small scales would have appeared
around your mouth and seaweeds
along your veins
But you had to open the doors of the train
with all your strength
since then we left reality
need I remind you of this today
