Lederhendler\u2019s translation was also shortlisted for the 2016 Giller Prize.<\/p>\n<p>The jury stated: \u201cIn The Party Wall, his masterly translation of Catherine Leroux\u2019s Le mur mitoyen, Lazer Lederhendler deftly captures the spirit, meaning, and emotional punch of the French text. Writing with grace and imagination, he creates a compelling work of art while serving and respecting the original.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lederhendler\u2019s work has earned him many distinctions, including the GG for his translation of Nikolski (2008), originally written by Nicolas Dickner, as well as the translation Cole Prize awarded by the Quebec Writers\u2019 Federation. His translations have been shortlisted seven times for the Governor General\u2019s Award. <\/p>\n<p>A full-time translator specializing in contemporary Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois fiction and non-fiction, his work has introduced English-language readers to a new generation of talented, innovative writers.
