However, the translation must be in French or English. Eligible works may be submitted by the publisher, translator or any other party.<\/p>\n<p>The prize awarded by the Literary Translators\u2019 Association of Canada consists of a cheque for $1,000 and one year LTAC membership.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The closing date for submission is Monday, July 9, 2018<\/strong>. Please click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attlc-ltac.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/2018-Glassco-SUBMISSION-FORM.pdf\">here<\/a> to view or download the submission form and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attlc-ltac.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/2018-GLASSCO-GUIDELINES.pdf\">here<\/a>\u00a0to view or download the guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>The prize winner will be informed before the end of August 2018 and the prize will be awarded on October 1, 2018, during a gala in Montreal that coincides with the Festival international de la litt\u00e9rature (FIL).<\/p>\n<h2>John Glassco&#8217;s Legacy<\/h2>\n<p>Every year since 1982, the Literary Translators\u2019 Association of Canada has awarded the John Glassco Prize to recognize the excellence and talent of an emerging literary translator. Galas are held as close as possible to the feast day of Saint Jerome, the patron saint of translators. The prize is bestowed on a translator whose first book-length translation (in French or English) stands apart. The prize is named after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca\/en\/article\/glassco-john\/\">Montreal born poet, writer, and translator<\/a> John Glassco, whose translations of French-Canadian poetry are some of the finest to ever appear.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1975, the Literary Translators\u2019 Association of Canada has promoted the art of literary translation and protected the interests of literary translators in Canada. LTAC is the only organization to represent literary translators in all Canadian provinces and territories.
