Julia Jones and Maude Desch\u00eanes-Pradet check in from the Maison de la litt\u00e9rature<\/a> in beautiful Qu\u00e9bec City to catch us up on the first week of their translation residency<\/a>. Novelist Desch\u00eanes-Pradet acquaints us with 10-year-old orphan Ren, one of the many compelling characters from her 2017 novel Hivernage<\/em> (\u00c9ditions XYZ<\/a>), while translator Jones, who is freshly graduated from Concordia University<\/a>‘s master’s program in translation, expresses gratitude and excitement for having the opportunity to visit some of the sites described in the novel. The two-week residency wraps up this Friday with a closing event where both women, moderated by Sonya Malaborza<\/a>, will read from their work and discuss the ins and outs of their collaboration.<\/p>\n<\/div>
