The selected candidates published their first book-length translations into French or English between July 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2019 and June 30<sup>th<\/sup>, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The three finalists are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Gabriel Kunst <\/strong>from Montreal (Quebec), for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.editionshashtag.com\/livres_194\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Par ici la sortie<\/em><\/a> (\u00c9ditions Hashtag), his translation of Montreal poet Carmine Starnino\u2019s <em>This Way Out<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Louis Hamelin<\/strong> from Grand-M\u00e8re (Quebec), for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.editionsboreal.qc.ca\/catalogue\/livres\/les-etes-ourse-2738.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Les \u00e9t\u00e9s de l\u2019ourse<\/em><\/a> (Les \u00c9ditions du Boreal), his translation of<em> The Curve of Time<\/em>, Muriel Wylie Blanchet&#8217;s famous travel memoirs;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Arthur Holden<\/strong> from Montreal (Quebec), for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundurn.com\/books\/Never-Forget\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Never Forget<\/em><\/a> (Dundurn Press), his French to English translation of Martin Michaud\u2019s bestselling thriller <em>Je me souviens<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This year\u2019s jury was composed of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attlc-ltac.org\/fr\/translator\/feldsteinpeter-fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Feldstein<\/a> (Chair), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attlc-ltac.org\/fr\/translator\/catherine-ego-fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Catherine Ego<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attlc-ltac.org\/fr\/translator\/benoit-leger-fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Benoit L\u00e9ger<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attlc-ltac.org\/fr\/translator\/mark-stout-fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Stout<\/a>, professional literary translators and full members of LTAC. In total, eight non-fiction books, novels, short stories, graphic novels, and poetry collections translated from French into English, from English into French were considered by the members of the jury.<\/p>\n<p>The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 9<sup>th<\/sup> at 7pm EST during a virtual gala that will premiere on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ATTLC.LTAC\">Facebook page.<\/a> The three finalists will receive a one-year membership with the LTAC and the winner will be awarded a cheque for $1,000. The LTAC will also celebrate two new honorary members, Charlotte Melan\u00e7on and Jane Brierley, and will recognize the Canadian literary translators who have excelled on a national and international level over the past year. Musician <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomashellman.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thomas Hellman<\/a> will provide a musical interlude and will discuss the influence of translation in his work with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attlc-ltac.org\/fr\/translator\/sonya-malaborza-fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sonya Malaborza<\/a>. His poems in English, French and German have appeared in different journals in the UK, Canada, and France.
