About / Bio

Benoit Laflamme is a professional translator and literary translator. From 2010 to 2019, he was a translator and reviser at the Parliament of Canada, where he translated the works of the Parliamentary Poet Laureate, among others. He then became head of a team of translators for Parks and Heritage at the Translation Bureau. In 2017, he was selected as one of the participants in the Banff International Literary Translation Centre's residency. In 2021, he completed his master's studies in literary translation (poetry) at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, for which he receive the Governor General's Academic Medal (Gold). His translation Éclipse électrique (Boréal) won the Cole Foundation Translation Prize in 2020, and his translation Dans la lugubre forêt nos corps seront suspendus was a finalist for the Governor General Literary Prize in 2022.
