About / Bio

Nicolas Calvé has been working in the publishing sector since the early 1990s, and is a literary translator from English into French since 2009. He mainly translates non-fiction books on political issues and ideas, the environment, social phenomena, history, culture and economics, as well as popular science and philosophy. His translations have been published by Lux éditeur, Éditions du Boréal, Éditions Écosociété, VLB éditeur and MultiMondes.

A finalist for the 2019 Governor General's Literary Awards in the French Translation category and winner of the the 2022 Cole Foundation Prize for Translation, he is a member of the Literary Translators Association of Canada (LTAC), of which he is co-president, and of the Union des écrivaines et des écrivains québécois (UNEQ).

Jury member for the John Glassco Translation Prize 2021 and 2022.
