About / Bio
Shouyi Wang, born in Dalian, China, has been teaching and doing research in China, in the U.S.A. and in Canada in the areas of American literature, cross-cultural studies and literary translations, as a professor of English in China, as a Fulbright Professor in Residence in USA teaching at Ashland University but shared by other universities; as a visiting professor at University of Illinois at Springfield; as a visiting researcher at University of Houston; and as a full member of Literary Translators’ Association of Canada. He served eight years as Chair of English Department and five years as Head of the American Studies Center in Heilongjiang University in China; and six years as the Vice President of China Association for the Study of American Literature, and one year as Vice Director of the Chinese Proficiency Test Committee at the University of Houston and three years as Chief Representative in Canada for Upper Iowa University. He holds his Master Degree of English from the University of Illinois at Springfield. As an author or co-author and translator or co-translator, he has published twenty-three books in China, Hong Kong and the U.S.A.; thirty-six articles in academic journals in China and the U.S.A.; some translated Chinese contemporary poems in Two Lines, Artful Dodge, Consequence Magazine, Poetry Miscellany Chapbooks and presented twenty-eight papers at professional conferences held in China, South Korea, the U.S.A. and Hong Kong. He is now working in a Canadian International Institute and lives with his wife in Richmond Hill, Greater Toronto Area.
