It is with great pleasure that the Literary Translators’ Association of Canada extends an open invitation to virtually attend the 37th John Glassco Translation Prize gala, which will air on our Facebook pageon Thursday, the 25th of November at 7pm.

The event will be hosted by the incomparable Alexandra Irimia, PhD candidate at Western University and student member of the association. Alexandra will shepherd us through a celebration of literary translation as we: recognise the accolades lauded upon our members this past year; celebrate two new honorary members; are treated to lively discussion between John Glassco scholars Brian Busby and Patricia Godbout in which they examine the poet and translator’s legacy in Canadian letters; and, of course, award the prize named in his honour.

The winner, an emerging translator deemed to have produced an exceptional first book-length translation, will be awarded a $1000 prize as well as free membership for a year.

This year’s jury was chaired by Arianne Des Rochers, and included Nicolas Calvé, Alex Gauthier, and Aleshia Jensen, professional literary translators and full members of the LTAC.

With warm regards,

The LTAC team
