The Translation House Looren supports professional literary translators with two residency grants for projects with English as a source or target language:
From autumn 2018 onwards, the Max Geilinger translation grants are awarded twice (previously, three times) a year. Applications are welcomed from translators who are:
– translating literary works written in English into German, French, Italian or Rhaeto-Romanic
– translating a work of Swiss literature into English.
Each grant consists of CHF 2,000 and includes a one-month stay at the Translation House Looren. The next deadline is 31st October, 2018.
For the Joyce Scholarship and Looren Residency 2019, applications are invited from translators with an ongoing translation project of a work by James Joyce. Applicants are expected to be familiar with Joyce scholarship. All target languages are welcome. The grant amounts to CHF 1,500 and includes a one-month stay at Translation House Looren to work at the Zurich James Joyce Foundation. The application deadline has been extended to October 30, 2018.
