On Wednesday July 21, the LTAC was delighted to co-sponsor, through its Funding for Members program, a discussion between student member Alexandra Irimia and Edinburgh-based publisher Carolina Orloff (Charco Press) on the topic of publishing literature in translation. Members will be familiar with Charco’s critically-acclaimed 2017 publication of Ariana Harwicz’s Die, My Love, co-translated by LTAC member Sarah Moses.

The event was aimed at graduate students in Languages and Literatures at Western University and beyond, looking to explore literary translation as an alternative career option to academia, and also as a way to apply their highly specialized literary training and linguistic skills. The one-hour Q&A session was divided into an initial 30 minute interview followed by questions from the audience.

A recording of the event can be viewed in its entirety below, while a transcript of the event can be found here.
