Aimee Wall and Peter McCambridge are having a double-launch with QC Books, an imprint of Barak Books, and Book*hug at La Petite Librairie Drawn & Quarterly on Thursday November 21, from 7pm to 9pm. Sherri Simon à lancé le numéro anniversaire de TTR le vendredi 8 novembre à l’Université Concordia. Deux tables rondes se sont déroulées parallèlement au lancement, la première avec  Jean-Marc Gouanvic, Judith Woodsworth, Sherry Simon, Brian Mossop, et modérée par Gillian Lane-Mercier, et la deuxième avec Annie Brisset, Alvaro Echeverri, Candace Séguinot, Marie-Claude L’Homme, modérée par Hélène Buzelin. La directrice de la revue, Aline Francoeur, et des membres du comité de rédaction étaient également présentes.

In conjunction with the launch of Translation Sites: A Field Guide (Routledge), Sherri Simon is hosting Montreal Spaces of Translation: A Performance at Concordia University’s Fourth Space (Main floor, Library Building, 1400 de Maisonneuve O.) on November 26 from 4pm to 6pm. Translation sites are places whose stories can be told as a conversation across languages. This event will feature scholars, translators and writers telling stories about places in Montreal that highlight translation in significant ways. Sites range from a former Yiddish school and buildings in the industrial southwest to the Montreal casino, streets in Mile End, a Haitian restaurant and art galleries. With readings by Michelle Hartman, Stephen High, David Howes, Lazer Lederhandler, Françoise Naudillon, Chantal Ringuet, Sherri Simon, Johanne Sloan, and Judith Woodsworth.

Diana Manole is working on a book-length hybrid project, “The Circles of Pain: Translating and Re-writing Nora Iuga.” It includes translations, as well as original poems that imagine the biography of a senior poet from a postcomunist country, who was once banned by political censors.
